Before You Decide
1. Does it hurt a lot, being a small tattoo?
Less than you would think. Being a small piece, the session is short and the discomfort is very manageable in most body areas. It is actually one of the reasons so many people choose a small design to try the experience.
2. Is it a good idea as a first tattoo?
Yes, and it is exactly what I recommend to anyone who has never been tattooed and wants to take it slow. It lets you see how your skin heals, how you feel wearing it day to day, and decide calmly whether you want to keep getting tattooed later on.
The Day of the Appointment
3. How long does the appointment take?
For a small design, usually between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the detail. It is a relaxed session, no need to block out a whole afternoon.
4. Can I choose the exact size that same day?
Yes. Before tattooing I make a stencil on your skin so you can see the real size and we can adjust it together if needed, before I turn the machine on.
Afterwards: Healing and Over Time
5. How long does it take to heal?
The skin usually looks healed on the surface after about two weeks, although full healing underneath takes a bit longer. I will give you simple, specific aftercare guidelines for those first few days.
6. Does it blur over the years for being small?
If the design is well planned from the start, with a line weight suited to the size, a small tattoo ages just as well as a large one. The problem is not the size itself, but fitting too much detail into too little space.
Choosing the Right Spot
7. Where should I get it if I want to be able to cover it up?
The inner forearm, the side of the torso or the upper back are good options if being able to cover it easily with clothing matters to you. We will talk about it at the consultation based on your day to day life and where you feel you will like wearing it best.
