I am a gamer before I am a tattoo artist, so when someone brings me a video game idea I usually understand exactly why that scene matters to them. I work a lot with the iconography specific to each franchise — the Zelda shield, Dark Souls ash, Kratos’s axe — combined with character illustration, always in clean linework with contrast designed to hold up well over the years. If your reference is a screenshot or the art from a collector’s edition, bring it: that is what I use as a starting point to draw something that is yours, not a generic icon from a merchandise store.

Yes, it is one of the best references you can bring. From there I adapt the composition, contrast and linework so it works as a tattoo.
Do you tattoo video game logos and symbols?
Yes, they work really well as small pieces or combined with a bigger scene. I always adapt them to my own linework rather than tracing them exactly.
Is it obvious which game it is from if someone does not know it?
It depends on how we approach it. If you want it to be recognisable at a glance, we prioritise iconic elements from that franchise; if you would prefer something more personal and less obvious, we play with composition and secondary symbols.
How long does a highly detailed video game tattoo take?
It depends on the size and level of shading. I will tell you exactly once I see the finished design, and if it needs more than one session I will explain that in the quote.
